Welcome to the third annual SpARC Dance Festival!

If this is your first time at SpARC, welcome to our festival! If you're a returning audience member, thank you for coming back!

This event began with my love for where I grew up: the Santa Clara Valley of the Bay Area. When people think of dance in the Bay Area, San Francisco usually comes to mind first... understandable, yet we have so much talent here in the South Bay. It felt important to spend an evening celebrating our talent, diversity, and sense of community in the place we live, work, and play.

The name SpARC has two meanings. First, it plays off my company name, ArcTangent Dance. "Arc" being my initials, and a nod to the unique arctangent curve. It can take an infinite amount of input, but it beautifully compresses it into a defined, bounded space. Dance operates on that same boundary. We have infinite imagination and endless emotional depths. We get to ground and express all of that vastness within the finite boundaries of a stage and human body.

Second, it is a phonetic pun of "spark." My hope is that dancers and audience members alike leave here sparked to dance more, connect, and support one another in our community. In this third year, I feel that happening more than ever. We grew from a one-day event to a three-day festival, added a second free community dance class, add a Studio-to-Stage workshop, and showcase more local choreographers and dancers than ever before.

A big thank you to the SpARC Planning Committee: Aarabhi, Ann, Chelsea, Katie, and Mom. This year's festival would be impossible without each of you.

With Gratitude,
