Iketis (pronounced hiketes) means 'the suppliant' in Greek, one who comes to a home or a new landseeking protection or asylum lying on the earth, trying to survive, trying to hope. So, this hope constantly pushes Iketis, refugee or immigrant, to touch new soil, to create new dreams, and to create new life.

Cloud 9 is a contemporary dance rooted in a club theme, aimed to explore soul-binding bonds discovered through nightlife excursions.

Hemavathi Jathiswaram

Music: Jathiswaram in Hemavathi Raagam and set to Rupaka Thalam

This dance form is called Kuchipudi, one of the eight ancient classical dance forms of India. It originated in the year 3 BCE, in a small village of Kuchelapuram situated in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Kuchipudi dance has a unique quality in which the dancers are scintillating, rounded and fleet-footed, while they perform with grace and incorporate fluid movements. Now performed to classical Carnatic music, in its solo exposition, tonight's dancer, Aarabhi will be presenting a pure rhythmic piece, called a jathiswaram. It is a collection of exquisite, intricate patterns called Jathis where every Jathi is alternated by Swarams or musical notes. Jathiswaram highlights the dancer’s proficiency in portraying the complex rhythmic sequences with the grace, eloquence, and swiftness often associated with Kuchipudi.
