The song talks about Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, manifested to save his devotee Prahalada from his tyrannical father, Hiranyakashipu. After receiving a boon from Lord Brahma, Hiranyakashipu believed himself invincible, as he couldn't be killed by man or beast, day or night, or by any weapon. He sought to destroy his son, Prahalada, a devout follower of Vishnu. When Hiranyakashipu smashed a palace pillar in anger, Lord Narasimha emerged, killing him at dusk on the threshold, using neither weapon nor hand but his sharp nails. The Lord calmed only after Prahalada’s prayers.
